Recreation Assistant II


Supervised by Director of Recreation & Wellness 

Education: Associates degree in human services degree or related field preferred. 2-3 years’ experience in related field lieu of education will be acceptable.

Part-Time: hours will vary each week and will include some evenings, some weekends and some holidays.

Recreation Coordinator Responsibilities:

1.  Assist with activities as directed by the Director of Recreation & Wellness

- Assist with planning of events and or activities

- Prepare and set-up for activities

- Remind residents of scheduled events

- Follow instruction and implement the activity 

- Observe individual resident participation and adapt program as needed           

- Evaluate program with Director of Recreation & Wellness to determine interest level and how program could be adapted to better serve the residents

2.  Provide direction to residents when on community outings and events

3.  Help maintain a pleasant and positive environment

4.  Assist with other tasks as directed by the Director of Recreation & Wellness

- Maintain and organize activity room, holiday storage rooms and craft  supply closet

- Seasonal gardening and supervision of residents during outside activities

-  Lead general health and wellness programs i.e.:  fitness room, walking group and sit n’ stretch exercise class

Housekeeper Part-Time Per Diem Job Description

 Position Title: Housekeeper – Part Time (Per Diem) Monday-Friday

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

 Position Summary:

Clean common areas in building per provided checklist of duties and Supervisor directed. Includes offices, bathrooms, apartments and common areas including but not limited to hallways, entranceways, TV and Community room – carpets, walls, doors, and windows.

 Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Clean resident apartments including bathrooms and kitchens
  • Clean common areas including public restrooms
  • Demonstrate good customer service skills with appropriate attitude and demeanor
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and maintain employee/resident safety as a priority
  • Lift and move heavy items
  • Interact with guests in a professional and helpful manner
  • Operate housekeeping equipment and use different types of cleaning solutions
  • Remove trash
  • Complete daily checklist
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • All other duties as assigned

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Prefer at least 2 years of experience

 Uniform: Black pants, black shoes and polo shirt (shirt provided by Appleridge)

Job Description – Server Trainee

Part Time: 20 hours per week approximately

•This is a non-tipping position that pays the current NYS minimum wage (not food service minimum wage) and will teach you all the skills needed for a higher level serving job.

•Greets all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.

•Answers resident questions about food, beverages, and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner.

•Develops professional relationships with residents.

•Provides the highest level of service in accordance with our standards while performing all Job responsibilities.

•Prepares work area for either opening, mid-shift, or closing in accordance with company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Identifies food orders when ready and delivers items to tables in a timely manner.

• Other job responsibilities as needed.

• Cleans dishes whether by hand or by loading dish machine.

• Communicates with cooks to ensure resident satisfaction.

• Maintains professional relationships with all co-workers.

• Follows checklists for duties assigned by Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or Event Coordinator.

• Buses tables.

• Maintains a professional appearance at all times.

• Maintains a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area.

• Performs duties as assigned by Supervisor, Director of Dining Services, or Event Coordinator.

• Maintains full knowledge of menus, recipes, and other pertinent information.

• Constantly increasing knowledge of food, beverages, and other products and services.

• Responsible for constant sanitation, organization, and proper food handling.

• Clock-in ready to work, in required uniform and no earlier than five minutes prior to shift.



• At least 16 years of age.

• Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays.

• Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.

• Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time.

• Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule.

• Excellent people skills and outgoing personality.
